Turn inherited documents into Markdown.

ReadMD keeps the conversion local so reports, decks, spreadsheets, papers, web pages, and scanned pages can become editable Markdown without a browser upload.

Local conversion workflow

  1. Prepare the source

Keep the DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, PDF, HTML, or LaTeX file on the local device.

  2. Import it

Add one document, several files, or a supported folder. Drag-and-drop is available for batch work.

  3. Convert to Markdown

Run the converter, then open the generated Markdown beside your original source.

  4. Review the structure

Check headings, lists, tables, formulas, image references, and scanned-text results before you publish or edit further.

Conversion questions

Which formats can ReadMD convert to Markdown?

ReadMD converts DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, PDF, HTML, and LaTeX sources into Markdown. Web pages can also be extracted when you explicitly request that optional action.

Can DOCX and PDF conversion run offline?

Yes on supported platforms. Local file conversion does not require a cloud account or uploading the document to a web form.

What document structure is preserved?

The converter aims to preserve useful Markdown structure such as headings, lists, tables, quotations, math, and image references while removing unnecessary proprietary wrappers.

Will every converted layout look identical?

No. Proprietary layouts do not always have a one-to-one Markdown match. Review headings, tables, formulas, and images after conversion, especially for complex designs.
